Hi I need to remotely monitor a WRT45G from a remote host on the Internet. As such, I want to allow ICMP ping replies on the public Internet interface. However, I have found no feature to allow me to do this. Similar Netgear devices do allow this feature. I know I didn't do anything to it, the only thing she did was to pull the cable and move it to the NIC on the PC to get back on the net after the router died.
Jan 12, 2001 · You can block your WAN port on the Linksys and this will stop your Linksys router from replying to the ping. 1. Log into your Linksys. 2. Go to the Advanced Tab. 3. Know you will be on the Filters Tab. 4. Scroll down to the bottom and you will see Block WAN request. 5. Click in disable and this should fix your problem it did for me.
